Pulaski's Legion is a regiment of melee cavalry in Empire: Total War. It is available to the United States with the Elite Units of America DLC.
Description[]
A combination of speed and a powerful charge makes these mounted troops exceptional shock cavalry.
These cavalrymen, armed with lances, have a devastating charge, which is especially effective against enemy line infantry. Pulaski's Legion is best employed to rush and break the enemy line, and then it should be pulled back for another charge before the enemy regains their senses. Despite their great initial attack, a wise commander will avoid leaving them in melee, as they are extremely vulnerable in prolonged close-combat.
Pulaski's Legion was created by a Pole, Casmir Pulaski. He was forced to flee Poland after being implicated in a plot to kill the king; it was during his exile in Paris that Pulaski met Benjamin Franklin. Franklin convinced him to aid the emerging American army against the British, and Pulaski joined Washington's army just before the battle of Brandywine. During this battle he led a scouting mission that discovered the British flanking movement. This act alone earned him the position of Brigadier General of the American Cavalry.
General Information[]
Pulaski's Legion are some of the only lancer cavalry available to the United States. They possess excellent charging characteristics and good melee skill for a lancer-type cavalry, although unremarkable compared to most cavalry in general.
