General Information

Ireland emerges if a revolution succeeds on the titular island, or if a non-European faction holding the region is destroyed.

Unit Roster

Ireland has a similar roster to Great Britain in some ways, being able to recruit units such as Chasseurs Britanniques, Ferguson Riflemen, and Hessian Line Infantry. However, the roster is smaller than that of Great Britain as certain units, such as the Coldstream Guard and The Black Watch are unavailable. 

History

During the 18th century, Ireland was formally an autonomous Kingdom, although it virtually was a client state controlled by the Kingdom of Great Britain. Everyday government was handled by Protestant Anglo-Irish lords, who also detained most of the land. The vast majority of its population were Roman Catholics and thus excluded from power and land ownership under the Penal Laws; non-conforming Protestants had no political influence, either. Britain exerted its control on the island exploiting its resources, as Ireland supplied Britain with salt beef, pork, butter, hard cheese, and it exported timber for the Royal Navy. Even if Ireland experienced famines and antagonism to the British, this period saw very little political violence, while the population kept on growing and the northern and eastern regions developed steadily.
